Shen Liang

2015.7 is one of Shen Liang’s series about the shells of sunflower seeds on Xuan paper. The artist adopted multiple traditional elements of poetry, figures of ancient literati and also calligraphy into his creation of miscellaneous objects in daily life. Dots and strokes congest into a new dimension. The scattered shells at first seem random, but are in fact well arranged to construct a realm of their own. The image expresses not only the profound skills of traditional ink brush painting, but also the unbeatable humor on a new page of art.
